Geoff Troll was inspired for this sculpture by one of Georges Brassens’ songs.
The heart shape at the back, represents the Neufchâtel cheese.
Why in the shape of a heart ?
Well, during the Hundred years War, English soldiers were posted in farms around
here, young Norman farmers’ wives or daughters ! used to make the Neufchâtel
cheese and to express their love for the English soldiers, they made the cheese in
the shape of a heart !
So the Neufchâtel cheese symbolises love between English soldiers and French
young ladies. What’s funny is that the creator of Artmazia, Geoff Troll fell in love with
a French lady, they have been living here since 1979, and what’s more, Geoff loves
Neufchâtel cheese.
